The Brigstow hotel is set on the banks of the River Avon, very close to the city centre and some of the best bit's that Bristol has to offer! Some great restaurants are within walking distance, the @Bristol science centre is close by if you want something to do and if you are looking for a bit of evening entertainment the Bristol Old Vic and Bristol Hippodrome are again both within 5 min walk.
The room was clean and tidy and very presentable as a business hotel. I must say I did feel that the room was firstly quite dark even once the curtains were open - but certainly with my travel I'm mostly in the room in the evening. The broadband was simple to connect to and I had no problems in speed. The rooms also did feel a little older than some other Mercure Hotels that I've reviewed on the blog and small additions like a mains socket by the bed is proof of that.
Standard as to most Mercure Hotels was the Iron and Ironing Board in the cupboard.
The bathroom was clean but felt very old fashioned, with some light pink and blue tiles - very 80's and also a good old BT phone! But the shower worked and there was a TV built into the wall...
Breakfast was the usual Mercure Hotel fare with a good selection of continental breakfast as well as full cooked breakfast should it be wanted. The breakfast's are served in a modern and airy room next door to the reception area and the quality of the food was good.
Close to the hotel there are a number of good places to eat. Three Brothers Burgers is a great trendy boat just sitting on the river 200M down the road from the hotel serving - well Burgers! On the other side of the road is Aqua serving a good mix of pasta and pizza. However on the Waterfront is my favourite haunt in Bristol - The Stable. Fantastic options on pizza but more importantly on Cider!
There isn't parking on site. The nearest parking is at the NCP around the corner - but parking here is over £20 if you park in the evening and remove the car the next morning. However my top tip is to park on one of the pay and display parking locations around the hotel for only a few pounds where it's also possible to pay on Ring Go
