After a short xmas break I was back on the road again! In the first few weeks of 2017 a short hop from Stansted with easyjet took me to Glasgow for an industry conference and exhibition. Given the conference was at the SEC there is really not a better place than the Crowne Plaza. Situated literally 2 minuets from the doors (or if you can work out the internal network of passages you don’t even have to go outside!) This modern, clean business focused hotel is a great place to stay.
Not having stayed at a Crowne Plaza in a while I found the booking process on the website to be fast and efficient and this was continued to the standard of welcome at the hotel. The reception staff knew the target market and what a travelling businessman needs. Free newspapers were available on request each morning (although I got them – and didn’t ask for them!) and upon arrival in the room I found a folded towel and a card with the name of the member of staff who had made my room up. The room was clean, tidy and spacious with my room having a good view of the river Clyde. Plenty of options on the type of pillows and even though I was next to the lift shaft/lobby it was quite quiet. The room had plenty of space to move around in, the desk was spacious enough for working at!
The hotel is in a great location for the SEC. For the city centre however it’s a short cab ride. I did an Uber to a drinks event in the city but there are always taxi’s at the front of the hotel or reception will ring for one.
In the hotel there is a good gym and also swimming pool which (as per usual) I didn’t have time to frequent sadly.
