4 Excellent Road Trips To Rival Route 66

There are many amazing things about the good old “You-Ess-of-Ay'' and not many are more iconic than Route 66. The 2,500 miles, three-week drive from the east coast to the west coast along the once-bustling road is a dream on the bucket list of many travellers and one of the excellent road trips of the world. The road originally ran from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California across 7 states and multiple towns and cities but today only around 85% of the route remains. Decaying roads, dangerous conditions and route replacement have made a large section of Route 66 un-drivable and today, to travel the entire route, you will need to begin in Missouri and end in Arizona. But as iconic as the route is, there are other breathtaking roads…

Travel Smart: 5 Accommodation Types

When considering what your travel or holiday accommodation should be, you are probably after three main things. You want comfort, affordability, and convenience. The final of these is perhaps the most sketchy out of the three. It's the factor that plays the most subtle underhand to our plans. Sure, we want comfort and we need it to be within our budget, but where the accommodation is, the ease of access, and even things like transportation options plays a huge role. Route 66 Kansas

If you've not read about Illinois or Missouri you can read about these parts of the route from the Route 66 master page. We now enter into Kansas. Kansas is the smallest of the Route 66 states and if you didn't stop you could drive it in 10 minutes. However there is lots of reasons to stop! If you've ever seen the Disney film franchise Cars the town of Radiator Springs has had a large amount of influence of both Galena and Baxter Springs. These are the 2 towns you'll drive through in Kansas.

Route 66 Missouri (Part 2)

If you've not read Part 1 of Route 66 Missouri do so here! After you've had a good laugh at all the possible tshirts that you can buy it's time to get back on the road again for the rest of Missouri! You first main town that you come to is Lebabon. Here you'll find a good Route 66 Museum as well as a couple of murals in the town. You then come to another Springfield. This one isn't the state capitol nor the home of the Simpsons - but it has another good museum that's worth having a look at. At this point you're probably thinking that it's all about the Route 66 Museums in every town. It does feel like that at times, but they all have something…

Five places that I want to visit off the beaten track…

2020 has been an awful year for travel. If you've read my other posts on some of the plans for this year I'm really sad it's not happening! However it's not all about the usual places to travel to. I've also got a bucket list of the places that perhaps aren't in all the travel guides. There are plenty of reasons behind each one. However here are five places that I want to visit off the beaten track... Officially I've been to North Korea. Well when I say officially I've been into the DMZ area between North and South when I was working in South Korea a few years back. Since then I've been totally fascinated with the country and the secretive nature of the whole country. The Country which…
