Road Tripping!

There is nothing better than freedom when it comes to travel. To get away from the schedules of planes and trains, you need to get behind the wheel of the car and embrace the freedom that comes with being out on the open road. You may not have considered a road trip for your next holiday, but this could be everything that you need for this year. We went on our road trip on Route 66 in the USA last year and frankly it was one of the best holidays that I've ever had! If you’re used to jet setting and seeing the world from the sky, you may not have considered how a road trip could change things for you. If you don't own a car right now, don’t…

A day at Wicksteed Park!

Wicksteed park isn't your usual "Theme Park". It's not got the fast rides that you might find at other places in the UK, but for me Wicksteed holds a very special place in our family history. With my grandmother growing up in the town of Kettering, Wicksteed was very much part of her childhood. As I grew up in Cambridge, Kettering wasn't a million miles away for the school holidays. Thus when my cousins used to come to stay we got bundled into the back of the car and taken to Wicksteed for a day out with my Grandparents. Wicksteed Park was founded by Charles Wicksteed. Indy 500 Race Day 2019

So I've dreamt from an early age about going to the Indianapolis 500. The Indy 500 as it's known, Le Mans 24 hours and then Monaco Grand Prix are know as the triple Crown motorsport it's true test of men and women against the machine. Only a few drivers have won all three races, and famously Fernando Alonso tried in 2017 and again in 2019 (although he failed to qualify for this years race) The Indy 500 forms part of the Indycar Championship which takes place over USA and Candian race tracks. I start first started watching the CART Racing Championship (the name before Indycar) when Nigel Mansell went from being Formula One champion 1992 and then he headed to the USA for the 1993 CART Championship. In the days…

The Beacon Hotel Dublin

So I first came to Dublin about in 2006 time I love the city and it's with lots of great bars clubs and a fantastic friendly population. The Beacon Hotel isn't in the city centre but is outside of the city in the area of Sandyford. I first visited here in about 2018 and since then the hotel has undergone some refurbishment and refresh, having said that, in it's previous incarnation it wasn't exactly poor! I arrived late at night (hence the dark room photos)but I had a very warm welcome from the front desk. Upon entering the room the first thing to strike you as the size of the both the room and bathroom. This isn't a small box room, it's a large spacious room with large bed, lots…
